Winter-Proof: How Our Plant-EE® Pots Held Up in the Cold 🌱❄️

Following the fall transplant of Red Oak seedlings from our ∅10 cm pots into our 1-gallon Plant-EE® Pots, we monitored how these prototype pots performed over the winter while stored outdoors at the University of Toronto, completely exposed to the outdoors without any protective cover, during a period of abnormally cold and snowy weather.

The results were promising. By springtime, we observed:

  • No signs of material degradation

  • Minimal discoloration

  • Some white mold growth at the bottom, where the pots were in direct contact with water for extended periods

  • No cracking, holes, or structural weakness

Even in tough Canadian winter conditions, our pots maintained their strength and integrity, proving they’re up for the challenge of real-world use!

Stay tuned as we continue testing and monitoring how these trees and pots perform over time. 🌱
