While some of our seedlings stayed cozy behind greenhouse glass, others were ready to brave the outdoors.
In November 2024, we successfully transplanted Red Oak seedlings from ∅10 cm Plant-EE® Pots into our newly developed 1-gallon Plant-EE® Pots, placing them in standard outdoor nursery conditions. The purpose of this trial was to test how well the seedlings could transplant into our larger Plant-EE® Pots and how the pots would hold up in outdoor conditions.
The seedlings transferred smoothly with no damage and remained healthy heading into winter. This marks the beginning of their field journey, an opportunity to observe root development and monitor pot performance in a natural environment, especially through the harsher months ahead.
Next comes the true test: how did they fare over winter? Stay tuned as we follow these trees through all the seasons! 🌱
